To join hands and hearts in unity to work selflessly and tirelessly to raise funds to help to uplift the physical and social status of the underserved communities in Jamaica. LAHM seeks to provide basic human needs, practical assurances, professional counseling, personal development, life skills training and emotional support. This mission is based on the philosophy that what lies behind us and what lies before us are minute matters compared to what lies within us. If we have enough compassion within us for the plight of the poor and we can put our big or small efforts in cash or kind towards making a difference in the lives of the downtrodden, we can move mountains.
Love and Hope Ministries (LAHM) is a humanitarian support group which was founded in September 2003 in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies by Mrs. Mabel Wood, a business woman with a strong philanthropic spirit. In the summer of 2004, a group of friends and relatives living in New York City heeded the plea for financial assistance to advance the work being done by LAHM in Jamaica and decided to join hands and hearts to establish LAHM International. The primary purpose of LAHM International is to provide financial support to LAHM in Jamaica through fundraising efforts by its members and friends in the United States. The mission of the LAHM International is to raise funds which will be used to provide humanitarian support to guarantee a better quality of life for at risk children including those who have lost one or both parents to HIV/Aids or gang violence. Most of the children being served presently, reside in a few poor areas of Kingston and Spanish Town in Jamaica. Many of these children attend school without eating the most important meals; breakfast and lunch. They are in dire need of moral support and help with a wholesome meal, school supplies such as books, pencils, school bags as well as appropriate foot wear and clothing for school. Our mission seeks to raise over one million US dollars annually which would help to expand this project to a greater number of needy children throughout the underserved communities of Jamaica and eventually to other Caribbean Islands such as Haiti. LAHM Jamaica is currently providing services to these children in the form of, counseling, feeding, and school supplies as well as securing improved medical services for those at risk. In addition to serving children, LAHM Jamaica also provides food supplies as well as counseling services to needy adults general and also the Geriatric population in residential homes. We would be truly grateful if you join with us in this work to reach every needy person across the Caribbean by making a donation. To make a donation, please click here. We anticipate that your contribution will be the pillars upon which the foundation of this organization will become strong, sustainable and meaningful, as we together serve and be of service to our fellowmen.
